What is warranty?
A Standard new vehicle limited warranty is a promise from the manufacturer that the parts of the vehicle will perform as promised for a certain period of time. The limited warranty extends to the fist owner and all future owners during that period. Extended Warranty is offered either at the time of purchase or while you are still under the standard warranty. For example, you may purchase air conditioning warranty for an additional 2-3 years.
Many truck parts have a Limited Replacement Warranty.
How do I sign up for warranty?
When you purchase a new vehicle, the dealer that sold it to you will submit paperwork to the manufacturer, who signs that vehicle up for the warranty period. This is done prior to delivery. The vehicle is listed by its unique VIN number and can be tracked. The warranty period is calculated from the in-service date.
What is covered?
The manufacturer guarantees the product to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use conditions for the period specific in the owner's manual, and provided all maintenance requirements are met. Warranty does not apply to normal wear and tear items, misuse, damage due to accidents, negligence, or improper operation.
How does it work?
Deficiencies must be brought to the attention of the authorized dealer immediately. All warranty diagnostics and repairs will be performed by our certified technicians. When you bring in your vehicle for a repair, give as complete a description of the problem as possible. At what speed does the problem occur, what does it sound like, is it constant or intermittent? A technician will write down your description. The Warranty Administrator will contact the manufacturer to determine whether the problem is eligible under warranty. If the work is authorized, the repair will be made. If it is not, then you will be contacted to determine how you wish to proceed. Parts associated with repairs made under warranty are tagged and returned to the vendor. If the part is found not to be defective, the claim will be rejected.
What about recalls?
Once a vehicle is covered for warranty, the registered owner is automatically notified by the manufacturer about any recalls associated with the model. Contact the dealership for more information.
